The GEDC works to develop and maintain a diverse and vibrant economic base by supporting current businesses, providing the resources entrepreneurs need for start-up, and assisting site selectors with relocation and expansion. 

The GEDC is a Texas Type B Economic Development Corporation formed in 1994 and funded by ¼ of 1 percent of the sales and use tax for the City. The funds are used to fuel economic and industrial growth primarily through the following strategies:

  • Retention and Expansion of Existing Businesses
  • Targeted Marketing and Recruitment of New Business
  • Incentives and Infrastructure
  • Talent Development Training through Education and Workforce Partnerships
  • Primary Job Creation

The GEDC’s focus is on primary employers whose companies sell a majority of their products and services to markets outside of Cooke County, funneling those new dollars into our local economy.
